Global chemical company Basp will add a Ubinul A Plus production line, a filter of sunscreen, to its Gao plant in Taiwan.

Currently, Ubinul A Plus raw materials, which are produced only in Ludwigshafen, Germany, will be produced at Taiwan factories, doubling global production. Additional production facilities will start operating in earnest from mid-2022.


Ubinul A Plus is one of the few photostable UVA filters currently on sale, blocking harmful UVAs in the sun and preventing skin damage from free radicals, an unnecessary active oxygen. Ubinul A Plus, a useful granule form, is easy to use in various formulations and does not contain preservatives, and shows high efficiency in small quantities. It suitables for the skin care product getting ready the sunscreen which it uses for a long time and anti-aging function.

“As consumer awareness of the importance of sunscreen in skin health protection increases, demand for safe, high-performance UV filters will steadily increase worldwide,” said Ralph Schweens, president of BASF Care Chemical. “Basp will support such market growth as a leader in the personal care raw material market,” he added.

“Investment in Ubinul A Plus production facilities in Gao reflects customer needs for advanced ultraviolet filters and shows the importance of the Asia-Pacific market in BASF,” said Dr. Rajan Venkatesh, senior vice president of Care Chemical in the Asia-Pacific region of BASF. “With this expansion, we will be able to make our customers more stable “We will provide supply,” he said.
